But often in life, we're faced with decisions to make, some of which we feel inclined to bend the law a little for our own convenience. Is this ethical? Is telling a white lie really that bad? I remember in Liar Liar a conversation between Jim Carey and his son went something like this.
Dad: You see son, people have to lie a bit sometimes, like... when your mum was pregnant with you, she asked how did she look. And I said she looked gorgeous! So radiant! If I said she looked like a whale then she'll feel really sad.
Son: But dad, my teacher said that beauty comes from the inside
Dad: That's what ugly people say.
There's tons of other things that make us bend the rules, using the office photocopier, driving against the arrow to shortcut, forging the astro card to get free entertainment (they earn so much anyways), tax loopholes etc. etc.
Let's make our world smaller.
The road I use to go to Curtin has this junction, and the traffic light is time-based I guess, that's why sometimes I'd feel so stupid just sitting in the middle of nowhere... looking left and right and there's nothing for miles. To go or not to go?
Laws exist for a reason.
